'The Eve of St. Agnes' by John Keats is a poem of epic length written in Spenserian, nine-line style. Even the sheep aren't making a peep or a baa. Angela though, still worried about the whole situation, hurries back downstairs. The poem has to be read with scrupulous attention; every detail makes a distinctive contribution and even though much of what is in the poem is there for its own sake, everything at the same time makes its contribution to the exaltation of romantic love.
